BCDBOOT.exe (Windows 7 /2008)

Set up a system partition, repair the boot environment located on the system partition.



BCDEDIT.exe (Vista+)


Manage Boot Configuration Data (BCD) data stores.The objects and elements in the store effectively replace Boot.ini.
BCDEdit improves upon and replaces the Bootcfg command on earlier versions of Windows.



Manage the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS). The BITS Service can be used to transfer large files from remote hosts. BITS supports throttled and asynchronous transfer of files between machines using idle network bandwidth. This service is used by Windows Update, SUS, SMS and many third party packages.



BOOTCFG.exe (Windows XP/2003)

Edit the Windows boot settings stored in Boot.ini, for Windows 7/2008 use the BCDEdit command instead.


BROWSTAT.exe (NT4/2000 Resource Kit)

Get NetBIOS browser and PDC information.
NetBIOS was deprecated in Windows 2000 and above, BROWSTAT is not supported on Server 2008 R2.
